Abstract

The designs of local data networks, today, must provide quality, flexibility, value and functionality, not only to meet current needs, but also to withstand future requirements. The survival of today's organizations depends on the reliability and effectiveness of the exchange of information and this, in turn, on the reliability and effectiveness of the design of their network infrastructure. Through the installation of structured cabling, the aim is to create an infrastructure that is highly reliable with the capacity to offer telecommunications services, in accordance with the new requirements for information management. Traditionally, the cabling infrastructure of a corporate building is the latest on your mind; In fact, cables are not generally included in the civil works budget, their planning and installation is carried out when the building is ready to be occupied and, generally, several types of cables are used for different functions. It could be said that cable occupies one of the last hierarchies in the concerns of owners, engineers and architects. Considering that there is a permanent demand for this type of networks, and that a reliable cabling network must be installed in any new building for the transport and distribution of telecommunications services, this work is presented, whose main objective is to make explicit the issue of structured cabling in terms of current international regulations in order to constitute a reference material for future structured cabling works.
