Abstract

This paper aims to clarify the issue of structured cabling in terms of current international regulations and new components, such as smart patch panels, are devices that combine advanced functionalities with network infrastructure, especially in information and communications technology environments. This component enables remote management, problem detection, automation and scheduling, enhanced security, and real-time monitoring. Data center infrastructure is also addressed to allow the correct development of artificial intelligence. With the advent of AI, new challenges are imposed and data centers must face the incorporation of new technologies in terms of active equipment, which demand higher energy consumption and higher bandwidth. The present work contributes to the topic of IoT (Internet of Things) mainly with single-pair ethernet, for smart building connections. It also deals with. Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity, technology that allows the transmission of electrical power along with data over Ethernet cables, which is ideal for powering devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points. Finally, reference is made to the focus on sustainability, which will help reduce the carbon footprint.
